Parish Recreation Facilities

Both Ringwould and Kingsdown are furnished with a recreation ground and play equipment. The Parish Council has a contracted regular maintenance schedule for both these areas and other areas of Parish Council owned land, including the green or what was once known as ‘the pond’ in Ringwould.

All play equipment is inspected weekly via a rota of voluntary Parish Councillors. Completed weekly Inspection Sheets are received by our Clerk and actioned where necessary. RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is employed each year by the Parish Council to provide an annual inspection and report of recreation grounds and play areas.

Both these facilities can be found off Queens Rise. The large recreation ground and play areas are located in separate areas. The two play areas are opposite to each other on Queens Rise and the play equipment caters for a wide range of age groups and interests.

The recreation ground located off Queens Rise via a small path is a large safe area equipped with two goals, and is very suitable for many types of ball games or to enjoy a picnic – weather permitting! In addition, sited between Front Street and Hangman’s Lane is the charming village green surrounded mainly by a number of period houses.

Kingsdown Recreation Ground and Play Areas

The large recreation ground in Kingsdown is equipped with a young children play area, multi use game area for basketball and football, two goal posts and a selection of outdoor fitness equipment.  Access to the recreation ground is via a footpath near to the Primary School on Glen Road.

A joint partnership between a charity known as Friends of Kingsdown Play Park (FKPP) and RwK Parish Council funded much of the new play equipment within Kingsdown recreation ground.  A notice board by the play area details the work of the Friends of Kingsdown Play Park and those who supported the charity.

Kingsdown recreation ground is open on one side to open countryside and provides another safe environment for ball games and family picnics.
